Flu Season at Cooper Has Officially Started

Influenza activity is increasing in South Jersey. This is supported by CDC and NJDOH surveillance data mined by our Infection Prevention team, as well as our own experience where we are seeing more patients with influenza-like symptoms/COVID-19-like illness as outpatients, in our ED, and as inpatients.

Therefore, we have declared that Flu Season has started today, Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

Please emphasize the importance of getting an influenza vaccine to your patients, family, and team members. It is not too late to receive one. Please refer to the Cooper vaccination policy regarding requirements for vaccination.

This is also a reminder that even though we are still in the pandemic, we need to consider the diagnosis of influenza when you treat patients with ILI/CLI symptoms.

Remember:

  • Proper hand hygiene and good cough etiquette are essential and remain the most effective ways to prevent the transmission of influenza and other infections.
  • Influenza vaccination is still available and can be effective. Please contact the Employee Health Hotline at 856.342.2077 to arrange for one.

As a reminder, if you have any symptoms of influenza or COVID-19-like illness OR you are not feeling well, PLEASE STAY HOME and contact the Employee Health Hotline at 856.342.2077.
