Team members at Cooper University Health Care recently enjoyed a special lunch as a thank you to frontline health care workers courtesy of the good folks at Cherry Hill Imports Auto Group.
Over a period of several days, representatives from Cherry Hill Imports Auto Group provided 325 meals for a number of Cooper team members in clinical units hit particularly hard during the recent COVID-19 surge.
“Cooper team members have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic, and we are extremely grateful to the Hartungs and everyone at Cherry Hill Imports Auto Group for recognizing their efforts with this most generous donation,” said Kevin O’Dowd, JD, Co-CEO of Cooper.
“I know this gift will mean a great deal to our clinical teams at this time as they are caring for more people with COVID-19 than at any other time during the pandemic,” said Anthony J. Mazzarelli, MD, JD, MBE, Co-CEO of Cooper, who encouraged people to get vaccinated to prevent hospitalization.
“We are appreciative of this generous donation of meals and the continued support the Hartungs have given to Cooper over the years,” said Robert A. Ortiz Jr., JD, senior vice president and chief philanthropy officer of The Cooper Foundation. “This is another great example of how the business community has been supporting our health care workers over the past two years.”
Cherry Hill Imports Auto Group has been a long-time supporter of Cooper University Health Care. The late Michael Hartung, former president of the organization who passed away in 2020, was involved with Cooper and The Cooper Foundation for more than 30 years, including serving as the first vice chair of The Cooper Foundation Board of Trustees. His daughter, Amanda DiMattia, CEO of Cherry Hill Imports Auto Group, has also served on the Foundation’s Board of Trustees for many years and currently serves as third vice chair of the Finance Committee.
“We are proud to support the important work that takes place at Cooper every day and provide a token of our appreciation,” said DiMattia, who personally delivered the meals to the hospital along with Andrew Hartung, Christopher Hartung, and Louis DiMattia. “It is our pleasure to brighten the day of these dedicated health care workers who are doing so much to care for the community.”
