Patient Safety Awareness Week

This week, Cooper recognizes Patient Safety Awareness Week. Thank you to our entire Cooper team for playing an important role in Cooper’s journey toward becoming a High Reliability Organization and reaching a goal of zero harm.

We encourage all team members to participate in the Patient Safety Awareness events scheduled this week. You can view a full schedule of events here. Also, visit Pulse+ to complete a daily patient safety crossword puzzle.

Additionally, Cooper’s Patient Safety team recommends several resources to help providers and staff prevent errors and encourage patients to take an active role in their own health care.

  • The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has compiled a list of 20 tips to help prevent medical errors. You can view the list
  • Ask Me 3 is a resource from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement that is intended to help patients become more active members of their health care team. It provides a critical platform to improve communications among patients, families, and health care professionals. Click here for more information.
  • The Joint Commission has created a series of animated Speak Up videos that encourage patients to speak up and be active participants in their health care. Click here to watch Speak Up About Your Care. Click here to watch Speak Up at the Doctor’s office.
