On April 22, 2022, Cooper will join nations around the world in celebrating Earth Day. The theme for this year’s Earth Day – “Invest in Our Planet” – focuses on accelerating solutions to combat our greatest threat, climate change, and to activate everyone – governments, citizens, and businesses – to do their part. At Cooper, our Green Team has worked to identify and put into action a number of initiatives to ensure that Cooper reduces waste, decreases energy usage, and educates our team members about how to be successful environmental stewards. Throughout the month, Elizabeth Cerceo, MD, a leader of the Green Team, has been sharing Earth Day events and tips on Pulse+ – make sure to check them out!
Additionally, on Earth Day the Cooper cafeteria will feature the following:
- “Impossible meats” and healthy, mindful recipes will be served.
- Sampling of plant-based kale salad at front entrance of the cafeteria.
- Reusable mug/cup program with $0.25 cents off coffees and fountain drinks if you use your own mug/cup (no cups/mugs larger than 20 oz. permitted).
- Gardner’s pack give-away raffle at front entrance of the cafeteria (seed packs available for 15 winners; gardener’s gift pack with kneel pad, garden gloves, seed packs, and more for one winner.
- Cafeteria employees will wear green shirts in honor of Earth Day.
- “Trayless Friday” to conserve water resources.
