Center for Healing Manager Facilitates Safe Table Discussion

Earlier this month, Iris Jones, LPC, LCADC, NCC, CCS, Manager of Clinical Operations, the Cooper Center for Healing, acted as a facilitator for the Garden State Patient Safety Center’s Patient Safety Organization Safe Table discussion on the impact of racial disparities in addiction treatment. Providers discussed how they can use evidence-based interventions to turn the tide of outcomes for communities of color, and explored:

  • The significant racial disparities that exist in access to addiction treatment, treatment retention, and screening, testing, and reporting to child welfare.
  • The contrast between the war on drugs that addressed the crack-cocaine epidemic and the public health crisis of the opioid epidemic.
  • How to begin addressing racial disparities in addiction treatment within institutions.
