Cooper’s Flu Vaccination Program Begins; COVID-19 Boosters Also Available

Cooper’s Flu Vaccination Program begins on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, with a goal of completing the program by Wednesday, December 7, 2022. Click here for the current schedule (as of December 5, 2022).

New Jersey law mandates individuals who work in a hospital, nursing home, or home health care agency must receive an influenza vaccination. The state law eliminates previously allowed religious and personal exemptions, but does allow for limited medical exemptions. If you are seeking a medical exemption, please fill out the medical exemption form here and return it to Employee Health at flu@Cooperhealth.edu by November 1, 2022. The form will only be processed if you return it to Employee Health – please do not submit it to your manager.

It remains unclear whether this law applies to those who work for a health system, but do not work in the hospital or another Department of Health licensed facility. Therefore, if you are seeking a religious or personal exemption from the flu vaccination, and you do not work in the hospital or a licensed facility, please fill out this form here by November 1, 2022. You will be advised of next steps.

Additional information:

All Cooper team members, physicians, residents, students, and volunteers may receive the flu vaccination from an Employee Health nurse at any of the times and locations listed on the schedule. Additionally, team members who would like to receive a COVID-19 booster shot may do so at any of the flu clinic locations. Walk-ins are welcome and no appointment is necessary.

  • This year, Cooper will administer the quadrivalent flu vaccine, which is designed to protect against four different strains of flu virus, including two influenza A viruses and two influenza B viruses.
  • Team members who receive the vaccination at a private physician office or a public clinic must submit proof of immunization via email to Employee Health at flu@Cooperhealth.edu. This information will only be processed if you return it to Employee Health – please do not submit it to your manager. All proof of vaccination must have:
  • Your name.
  • Your birthdate.
  • The date the vaccine was administered.
  • The lot number of the vaccine.
  • The expiration date.
  • Team members who are on a leave of absence will receive a letter at home with instructions on how to receive their flu vaccination.
