Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month

October is Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month. The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, the American Society of Echocardiography, Cardiovascular Credentialing International, the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, and the Society for Vascular Ultrasound join together every October to sponsor Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month.

The goal of Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month is to recognize the importance of medical ultrasound and to increase the public’s knowledge about its many uses in health care. In addition to the well-known use of medical ultrasound during pregnancy, many people are unaware that ultrasound is used throughout all stages of life and for various medical conditions. This includes the assessment of some types of cancer and liver disease; viewing muscles and tendons; diagnosing blood clots; addressing issues with the womb, ovaries, and testicles; viewing gallstones; and diagnosing many more conditions.

Thank you to our sonographers for being an integral part of the Cooper team.
