Newly Opened Hybrid Cath/EP Lab Provides Options for Lifesaving Heart Care

The Cooper Heart Institute, member partner of Cooper and Inspira Cardiac Care, recently completed an important renovation to the catheterization laboratory that included the adjoining procedure room, control room, and equipment room to become a cardiac catheterization (cath) and electrophysiology (EP) advanced multifunctional laboratory. This hybrid suite brings even more advanced cardiac diagnostic and treatment capability to South Jersey.

Cooper cardiac interventionalists can now diagnose and treat cardiovascular conditions, and diagnosis and treat heart rhythm disorders, in one location. The spacious laboratory is outfitted with advanced angiographic equipment, anesthesia equipment, and electrophysiology technology that can accommodate multidisciplinary teams to perform complex and lifesaving procedures if needed.

The cath/EP lab is equipped with the latest-generation image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic imaging system, which provides imaging capabilities at ultra-low radiation dose levels, allowing physicians to conduct complex procedures with greater precision and adding a significant measure of safety for both the patients and medical team. The cath/EP lab is located adjacent to four additional labs — three cath and one EP—providing Cooper with the capacity to meet the regional demand.

Congratulations to all Cooper Heart Institute team members on this accomplishment.
