Andrea M. Russo, MD, FACC, FHRS, FAHA, Director, Cardiac Electrophysiology and Arrhythmia Services, Cooper Heart Institute, and member provider of Cooper and Inspira Cardiac Care, recently spoke at the “Get in Rhythm. Stay in Rhythm.®” Atrial Fibrillation Patient Conference in Dallas, Texas. In addition to presenting at the conference, Dr. Russo met her co-spokesperson of the “No Time To Wait” campaign, basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Both Dr. Russo and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar have participated in the campaign to raise awareness of atrial fibrillation (AFib), which is the most common irregular heartbeat and poses an increased risk of stroke when left untreated.

In addition, Dr. Russo was announced as the 2023 recipient of the “Eric N. Prystowsky, MD Advocate for Patients Award,” which recognizes a clinician who has demonstrated outstanding service and contributions for the benefit of AFib patients and their families. Dr. Prystowsky was the first recipient of this award, followed by many well-known physicians in the field, including Dr. Russo.

Congratulations to Dr. Russo on the well-deserved recognition she has received in her efforts to raise awareness of AFib.
