In May, the New Jersey Department of Health, under then-Commissioner Judith Persichilli, selected Cooper’s John Porter, MD, to serve as the new State Trauma Medical Director. This is recognition of Dr. Porter’s expertise, leadership, and experience in the field of trauma care. He will begin working in this role in the coming days.
In this new role, Dr. Porter will:
- Provide subject matter expertise to assist the leadership of the New Jersey Department of Health in the development and implementation of the statewide trauma system plan.
- Guide the State Trauma System Advisory Committee’s efforts to plan, develop, and enhance the statewide trauma system plan.
- Develop quality assurance standards for trauma care and assist in the implementation of quality improvement programs for trauma care in New Jersey.
Dr. Porter will remain a full-time Cooper team member in his current role as he fulfills his duties as State Trauma Medical Director.
