This year, Cooper is joining over 100 organizations across the country in celebrating National Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Week, from September 25 through September 29. This celebration brings APPs together as we recognize, celebrate, bring awareness, and highlight the unique roles and importance of our APPs in providing high quality, patient-centered care. We will honor all APNs, PAs, and CRNAs during this week.
Cooper’s APPs provide care in primary, acute, and specialty settings, as well as in patient homes, schools and prevention clinics. APPs work independently and collaboratively with all members of the health care team to manage acute and chronic illnesses. They also focus on health promotion, disease prevention, health education, and counseling to help patients make healthier lifestyle choices.
At Cooper, our APPs are a vital part of the clinical team and provide a full range of patient-centered services including:
- Taking medical histories
- Conducting physical exams
- Diagnosing and treating illnesses
- Ordering and interpreting tests
- Developing treatment plans
- Prescribing medications
- Counseling on preventive care
- Performing procedures
- Assisting in surgeries
- Making rounds in hospitals and nursing homes
- Conducting clinical research
- Providing clinical leadership
We are proud to spotlight Evelyn Robles, DNP, APN, AOCN, Administrative Director of Outreach, Prevention and Survivorship at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, who has been nominated for APP of the Year. The winner of this prestigious award will be announced on Friday, September 29, 2023, during the closing ceremony.
Throughout the week, please help us recognize and thank our APPs for all they do every day to make a difference in the lives of others. Evelyn will be providing education on the role of APPs in both English and Spanish.
