American Heart Month and Wear Red Day

February is American Heart Month, and this Friday is National Wear Red Day. To help increase awareness about the prevention and treatment of heart disease and stroke, wear your favorite shade of red on Friday and share your photos on Pulse+.

Heart disease is the number one cause of death in the U.S. It affects all ages, genders, and ethnicities. Risk factors include high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, being overweight or obese, physical inactivity, smoking, and excessive alcohol use.

Heart month serves as a good reminder to start heart-healthy habits and reduce your risk for heart disease. Eat a healthy diet, engage in physical activity, and manage your cholesterol and blood pressure.
