Volunteer Opportunity to Honor Those Who Served Our Country on May 24

Placing American flags on veterans’ graves is a moving tradition honoring those who served our country. The Camden County Department of Veterans Affairs, in partnership with Employee Connections of Camden County, is seeking volunteers to place American flags on the headstones and gravesites of veterans that have valiantly served our country, in recognition of Memorial Day.

The event will begin on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 10 a.m. with a ceremony at Harleigh Cemetery on Haddon Avenue followed by flag placement at New Camden Cemetery, Mt. Ephraim Ave. and Ferry Ave. (also bordered by Sayrs Ave. and Hallowell Ln.) and Evergreen Cemetery, at 1901-1909 Mt. Ephraim Avenue, Camden.

If you are interested in participating, please email Virginia Betteridge, Cooper Volunteer Program Manager, at Betteridge-virginia@cooperhealth.edu.

Please note, this event does require a degree of physical exertion. Volunteer spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The list of participants will be submitted on May 17, 2024.
