American Heart Association Recognizes Cooper University Health Care’s Commitment to Quality Stroke Care

Cooper University Hospital in Camden received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award in recognition of the health system’s commitment to providing the most appropriate stroke treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately leading to more lives saved, shorter recovery times, and fewer readmissions to the hospital.

“As a regional leader, Cooper is committed to continually improving stroke outcomes in our community. This accreditation reinforces our team’s efforts to provide the highest level of care to each patient,” said Tudor G. Jovin, MD, Medical Director of the Cooper and Inspira Neuroscience and Professor of Neurology at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.

In addition to the Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award, Cooper also received these achievement awards:

  • Target: Stroke Elite Honor Roll
  • Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll
  • Stroke Advanced Therapy Honor Roll

“We are pleased to recognize Cooper for its commitment to caring for those in their community,” said John Warner, MD, FAHA, past president of the American Heart Association and CEO of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. “Hospitals that follow the American Heart Association’s quality improvement protocols often see improved patient outcomes, fewer readmissions and lower mortality rates – a win for health care systems, families and communities.”

Get With The Guidelines® is the American Heart Association hospital-based quality improvement program that provides hospitals with tools and resources to increase adherence to the latest research-based guidelines. Developed with the goal of saving lives and hastening recovery, Get With The Guidelines has touched the lives of more than six million patients since 2001.
