Schwartz Center Rounds: Panelists Needed for Upcoming Programs

As a Cooper team member, you may be familiar with or even attended a recent Schwartz Center Rounds (SCR). But did you know that SCR is a national movement that has been around since the late 1990s and is offered in hundreds of hospitals across the nation? Cooper has been involved for many years.

The purpose of the SCR is to promote compassionate health care and strengthen the relationship between patients and caregivers by focusing on the human dimension of medicine. The SCR are designed to bring doctors, nurses, and team members from all levels together to discuss the social, emotional, and sometimes ethical aspects of caring for patients and families. The rounds are held monthly at Cooper and are open to everyone!

The SCR committee is planning some great programs for the fall and is looking for Cooper team members to share their personal experiences by serving as a panelist for one of the upcoming programs:

  • October – End of life and ethical decisions.
  • November – Handling aggressive and agitated patients.
  • December – Creating space for religion in health care.

If you or someone you know would like to participate as a panelist on one of these upcoming programs, contact Jennifer Garefino at garefino-jennifer@cooperhealth.edu or Carley Schaffer at schaffer-carley@cooperhealth.edu.
