Connect, Support, Advocate: Join a Team Resource Group at Cooper

Team resource groups are team member-led groups within an organization that are formed based on shared characteristics or experiences, such as race, gender, sexual orientation, or disability. Some team resource groups (TRGs) might support:

  • Black team members.
  • LGBTQ team members.
  • Women in leadership roles.
  • Working parents.
  • Veterans.
  • Mental health advocates.
  • Young professionals.

In workplace settings, resource groups play a vital role as they provide a secure environment for team members with shared identities or experiences to connect, support one another, and advocate for their needs. This fosters a sense of belonging, which is essential for team members to feel part of the organization on a deeper level. When team members experience this sense of belonging, they are more likely to be engaged, motivated, and committed to their work. Additionally, resource groups enhance diversity and inclusion within the organization by ensuring that underrepresented groups feel acknowledged, valued, and respected within the Cooper culture. This inclusive atmosphere not only improves team member morale but also contributes to a more collaborative and innovative workforce.

Having team resource groups demonstrates a genuine commitment to building a diverse workforce, showcasing Cooper’s dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. This commitment not only attracts top talent from varied backgrounds but also enhances Cooper’s reputation as a progressive and socially responsible organization. By prioritizing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) through TRGs, Cooper can build a strong brand that resonates with both current and prospective employees, creating a competitive edge in the talent market.

Key Benefits of Resource Groups:

  • Enhanced Team Member Engagement and Retention: Resource groups provide a supportive community that helps team members feel more connected, reducing turnover rates.
  • Promoting Diversity and Inclusion: These groups facilitate open discussions about the challenges faced by different demographics, helping companies to identify and address diversity and inclusion issues.
  • Mentorship and Career Development: Resource groups offer opportunities for networking, mentoring, and sharing career development advice within a supportive peer network.
  • Cultural Awareness: By bringing together team members from diverse backgrounds, these groups help educate the broader workforce about different perspectives and experiences.
  • Advocacy for Change: Resource groups act as a platform for team members to raise concerns and advocate for policy changes that reflect their shared identity and experiences.
  • Improved Team Member Wellbeing: By providing a safe space for discussing personal challenges, these groups contribute to better mental health and overall wellbeing among team members.
  • Innovation and Problem-Solving: By bringing together team members from diverse backgrounds and perspectives, team resource groups foster creativity and innovation. They encourage diverse viewpoints, which contribute to more effective problem-solving and decision-making.

We are also gearing up to launch an “Other Abilities” resource group as well.  Please join us by considering becoming a leader or a member of one of our resource groups where we have openings.
