We would like to announce an important update to our pneumatic tube system carriers at Cooper University Hospital in Camden:
What is changing?
- In the coming weeks, foam inserts will be added to each carrier used in the tube system.
Why is this happening?
- Specimen Protection: The foam helps to protect the specimens from moving around too much in the carrier, which could compromise specimen integrity.
- Breakage Prevention: For glass blood culture bottles, the foam is particularly beneficial, as it helps to prevent breakage.
- Leakage Containment: In the event of a leaking specimen, the foam helps to contain the spill by absorbing the liquid.
What do we need from you?
- Please do NOT remove the foam inserts from the carriers.
- The pharmacy and lab teams will monitor and replace inserts as needed.
We appreciate your cooperation in making these improvements effective.
