National Women Physicians Day

On Monday, February 3, 2025, we celebrated National Women Physicians Day across the nation. This day commemorates the birthday of Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, who, in 1849, became the first woman to receive a medical degree in the United States.

Since 1849, women physicians have made remarkable strides in health care. Today, women represent nearly half of all medical school graduates and assistant professors at academic institutions.

Our Women in Medicine group continues to advocate for and celebrate women physicians, who now represent nearly 50% of Cooper’s extraordinary physicians. Women physicians at Cooper continue to shape and transform our organization by delivering outstanding clinical care and serving as mentors, educators, researchers, and leaders.

Join us in taking a moment to acknowledge the outstanding contributions by all our women physician colleagues.
