Empowering School Nurses to Lead in Cardiac Arrest Response

Michael Riley, Director of Resuscitation Education, presented at the Pearls of Wisdom for School Nurses Spring 2025 Conference on Saturday, March 29, 2025. His topic, “Saving Lives in Schools: Understanding and Responding to Cardiac Arrest,” focused on understanding the science behind a successful resuscitation, being better prepared to respond to a cardiac arrest in a school setting, and understanding prevention and the importance of building a cardiac emergency response team.

Mike brings more than 18 years of expertise in emergency medicine and resuscitation. His career includes extensive experience as a nationally registered paramedic, working in both pre-hospital and in-hospital environments. Mike is dedicated to advancing cardiac arrest prevention, early identification and management of deteriorating patients, high-quality CPR, and optimal post-arrest care. He has established a community engagement team focused on addressing disparities in CPR education, promoting life-saving skills, and training individuals in the use of AEDs. Mike is committed to bringing resuscitation education to underserved communities, empowering them with critical life-saving knowledge.
