Cooper’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is proud to host its first-ever Kangaroo-a-Thon from May 1 – 15, 2025.
This year’s global theme is “In Your Arms, I Thrive,” celebrating the powerful impact of Kangaroo Care—skin-to-skin contact between parent and baby.
Did you know the World Health Organization recommends skin-to-skin contact for at least the first six months for pre-term babies and three months for full-term babies?
Kangaroo Care can:
- Increase infant weight gain.
- Improve feeding tolerance.
- Decrease stress in both caregiver and baby.
- Lower risk of infection.
- Boost mom’s breastmilk supply.
- Elevate oxytocin levels to enhance bonding.
- Improve infant sleep.
Help us spread awareness and celebrate the moments where a simple embrace means everything.
