Dr. Myers is a family medicine physician with clinical and academic expertise in primary care for transgender patients and gender-affirming hormone therapy. Attendance will count for one hour of CMSRU diversity credit. We welcome students, residents, fellows, and faculty.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the epidemiology of gender dysphoria and transgender identity as well as common comorbidities.
  • Describe the barriers to effective health care faced by transgender patients in the United States.
  • Describe the social and political determinants of health unique to transgender patients.
  • Describe elements of the patient interview and counseling skills to help patients across the gender spectrum feel welcome in your practice.
  • Identify basic principles of gender-affirming hormone therapy and surgical options for gender confirmation.
