Alice Hagerty BSN, RN, overnight nurse from the Kelemen 9 unit at Cooper University Health Care, is The Daisy Award winner for March 2022. Alice’s dedication to Cooper Nursing and the extraordinary care she provided to our Cooper patients earned her the following accolades.
“A little background information on me, I have been in and out of the hospital for a month now with sever GI pain and a variety of issues. This is my first stay in Cooper and I am terrified. They have found the problem and I’m scheduled for open surgery. Alice is my nighttime nurse the night before the surgery. She has explained every single thing that’s is happening, what it is, why it is being done, what she can do if I am uncomfortable. She had me hooked to an IV at precisely midnight and when I had to use the restroom at 3am she was immediately there to help. She never overstepped the line of becoming too familiar, but her compassion and honest caring has been incredibly soothing. I am hours away from home, scared and in pain. Alice has made me comfortable. She has made me feel like someone cares about me as me, not just as a patient. She seems to be predicting my needs and is immediately ready to meet them; there are no words for how grateful I am for this nurse.”
