National Rehabilitation Awareness Week

National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, which takes place from September 19 to September 25, 2022, is a time to celebrate rehabilitation professionals while also acknowledging successful patient outcomes. Rehabilitation professionals help people live their best lives while they are living with illness or injury. Occupational therapy focuses on helping patients complete their activities of daily living; physical therapy focuses on helping patients move better; and speech language pathology helps patients improve their speech and swallowing.

The inpatient rehabilitation department at Cooper University Hospital includes more than 45 occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech language pathology professionals. The team also includes a secretary and rehabilitation aides who help the department run smoothly. Cooper’s rehabilitation team, in collaboration with the health care team, works with patients of all ages to determine the safest discharge plan and to help start the rehabilitation process.
