Celebrating National Nurse Practitioner Week

This week is National Nurse Practitioner (NP) Week. The theme this year is “NPs: Rising to Meet the Needs of Patients.” In all practice settings and communities, NPs put the needs of patients first and deliver patient-centered, high-quality care to those in need.

NPs are advanced practice nurses (APNs) who provide acute, chronic, primary, and mental health care in a variety of settings, working collaboratively with all members of the health care team. NPs have advanced education and training to diagnose and treat patients and have an added focus on health promotion, disease prevention, health education, and counseling to help patients make healthier lifestyle choices.

With clinical expertise, NPs provide a full range of services including patient assessment, ordering and interpreting tests, making diagnoses, and providing treatment including prescribing medications and non-pharmacologic treatments. NPs perform procedures and are involved in education and research.

Cooper NPs are valuable members of our health care team. During National NP Week, please help us celebrate and thank our NPs for the positive impact they make every day on the health of our patients, families, and communities and for the contributions they make to our organization.
