GiGi Martinez, BSN, RN, a staff nurse from the Pavilion 6 unit at Cooper University Hospital, was the Daisy Award winner for August 2023. GiGi’s dedication to Cooper nursing and the extraordinary care they provided to our Cooper patients earned them the following accolades:
“My sister was admitted after a colon resection. She had just been diagnosed with two types of cancers and was frightened about surgery and all that would follow. When my sister arrived on the floor, the flood gates opened. The nurse was so caring and offered the support I so badly needed. When my sister was awake in the morning, Gigi was once again caring and compassionate. Gigi’s clinical skills in my opinion were exemplary. As my sister’s clinical presentation changed, the nurse explained what they were doing. They explained things so that we clearly understood the purpose. Our family will never forget Gigi for easing our fears and providing my sister with excellent nursing care.”
