Recent Increase in Phone Thefts

Secure your phone, don’t leave it alone.

Cooper University Health Care has experienced an increase in the theft of personal and Cooper-owned cell phones, prompting an ongoing investigation by Cooper Security Services. Recently, a stolen phone was tracked to a “cash for phones” kiosk in a local chain store.

All Cooper team members are advised to take the following precautions regarding the security of personal or Cooper-owned electronic devices:

  • Store or charge all devices in a secure area and keep them in your possession.
  • Do NOT leave phones or devices in plain view for opportunistic thieves.
  • Activate tracking capability with friends or family for all devices.
  • Document your device serial number, but not on your device.
  • Report your stolen device and serial number to police, who can assist in tracking and retrieving the device if placed in a local cash kiosk.
  • Please report any Cooper-owned or personal devices stolen at a Cooper facility to Cooper Security Services.

Team members are encouraged to secure all valuables when at work. Valuables left in plain view are an easy target. Unfortunately, around the holidays the incidents of theft increase.

Lastly, if you See Something, Say Something. By immediately reporting suspicious activity, you help ensure timely security intervention. Thank you.
