Plain Language Emergency Alerts

Team members at Cooper University Hospital will no longer receive color-coded emergency alerts. We have now fully transitioned to using plain language for all alerts to avoid code confusion. The only exceptions will be CODE BLUE (for adult medical emergencies) and CODE WHITE (for pediatric medical emergencies). The plain-language initiative, especially in a health care setting, promotes accessibility, health literacy, trust, and patient safety.

To Report an Emergency:

  • Medical Alert: Dial 666 on a Cooper phone.
  • Facility Alert: Dial 644 on a Cooper phone.
  • Security Alert: Dial 655 on a Cooper phone.
  • Ambulatory Sites: Dial 911 for all emergencies.
