Cooper’s expanded Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) located on the first floor of the Kelemen building at Cooper University Hospital in Camden is now open. The new space, built modularly in only seven months, has increased the number of beds in the CDU from 20 to 35, with additional space to focus on short stay and observation patients. The increased capacity will allow us to support patient flow in the Emergency Department.
The inspection of the CDU expansion space by the Department of Health was successful. The new rooms are designated as CDA 21 through CDA 35.
Many thanks to Michael Gross, MD, Medical Director; Marcy Chojnacki, MSN, RN, Clinical Director; and Dean Bligh, BSN, RN, Associate Clinical Director, for their hard work in ensuring the success of the expansion.
We appreciate your attention to this update and will keep you informed of any further developments.
