We are finalizing plans for service changes regarding MRI services on our Camden and Voorhees campuses. Please see below for an update to ensure all stakeholders are well-informed and prepared. Both Cooper Radiology and our joint venture partner, University Radiology Group (URG), are working together to minimize the effect on patients and providers.
Key Actions and Changes:
- Placement of a mobile/trailer MRI unit at Cooper University Hospital.
- Replacement of the MRI units at Sheridan Pavilion and Voorhees.
- Addition of a 3T MRI at Sheridan Pavilion in 2026.
Impact on MRI Services:
- No changes in the number of MRI units available for patient care during the replacement projects.
- Alternative Locations: All studies typically completed at Voorhees can be provided at alternative locations, either at Cooper or at URG at Cooper.
- Exception: MRI-guided breast biopsy services are being expanded at URG at Cooper in Cherry Hill to accommodate current needs. Plans are being finalized to increase capacity.
Goals and Objectives:
- Accommodate the volume of MRI-guided breast biopsies typically handled at Voorhees and, if possible, create additional capacity to help reduce current wait times.
- Cooper Radiology and URG leadership will reassess capacity needs for MRI-guided breast biopsies to ensure ease of access for our patients.
- Once the Voorhees replacement project is complete, MRI-guided breast biopsies will resume at Voorhees.
