Flu Season at Cooper Officially Ends

As a result of surveillance activities conducted by the NJDOH and the CDC, and the very few Cooper patients infected with influenza at all locations, our Infection Prevention teams have declared Wednesday, April 30, 2025, as the end of the 2024/2025 influenza season for our health system.

The end of flu season means that:

  • The current influenza vaccine will no longer be offered to patients or team members until the new vaccine is available in the fall for the 2025-2026 flu season.
  • Any team member who has not received an influenza vaccination is no longer required to wear a surgical or procedural mask when in direct contact with patients and in common areas of clinical buildings.

Team members, visitors, and patients at all Cooper patient care locations must abide by whatever current masking policy is in effect.

Universal masking may continue to be enforced in specific units or as otherwise indicated by Infection Prevention. Units where masking is mandatory will be clearly marked with signage to notify team members.

Thank you for your diligence in keeping our patients, visitors, and team members safe.
