We’re Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot – How to Combat the Extreme Heat

With the extreme heat this week, Cooper’s Facilities Department is taking proactive steps to support a comfortable environment across the enterprise, including hospital and ambulatory locations.

The Facilities team is actively monitoring systems and has preparations in place to help minimize any heat-related impacts on operations. Readiness measures include:

  • Temperature adjustments in non-clinical areas to ease demand on HVAC systems.
  • Pre-checks on all critical cooling infrastructure, including chillers, air handlers, and backup power systems.
  • Portable cooling units onsite and ready for deployment.
  • Vendor partners on standby to assist with urgent service needs.

How you can help:
We appreciate everyone’s partnership in helping reduce energy use. Simple steps like turning off lights in unoccupied spaces, shutting down unused equipment, and keeping doors to temperature-controlled rooms closed can make a meaningful difference. Reporting temperature-related issues:

  • Cooper Camden: Email CooperFacilitiesLeadership@CooperHealth.edu for emergent heat-related issues. All routine requests should be submitted through the work order system.
  • Cooper Cape: Contact Plant Operations at extension 2022 during operational hours, or the Boiler Room at extension 2453 after hours for emergency concerns. Routine issues should also be submitted via the work order system.

Thank you for your continued support and teamwork. Your efforts help keep Cooper safe, efficient, and resilient — no matter the weather.
