Motivational interviewing is a method of interacting which demonstrates efficacy in improving outcomes in clinical trials; it benefits both the patient and the physician by guiding the patient toward self-motivation while at the same time lessening the emotional weight of each patient encounter for the provider. This technique can be especially helpful in cultivating the desire, willingness, and plan to change in patients with disabilities, including but not limited to diabetes, obesity, depression, and addiction. We hope to see you there.
