Do You Have Heart-Healthy Recipes to Share? There’s Still Time to Submit Them!

Cooper Heart Institute is creating a Cooper Heart Cookbook, and the staff would appreciate any heart-healthy recipes that you would like to share with Cooper’s cardiac patients! One of the greatest challenges our patients face is modifying their diet and lifestyles to become more heart healthy.

This cookbook is a collaborative effort to provide our patients with heart-healthy recipes they can easily follow at home. We are looking for salads; main dishes such as quick and easy meals, crockpot meals, and meals for special occasions; side dishes; and desserts.

Please follow these guidelines when submitting your recipe:
> Clearly write out your recipe with all cooking instructions.
> Be accurate and specific with measurements and ingredients.
> If at all possible, submit nutritional information along with your recipe to help verify that it does qualify as heart healthy. (For nutritional information guidelines, the American Heart Association website is an excellent resource: www.heart.org.)
> Use original recipes.
> If there is a story to your recipe, please include a short write up when you submit your recipe.
> Include your name, department, email address, and Cooper phone number along with your recipe.
> Submit your recipe in a Word document only to cookbook@cooperhealth.edu.
> Deadline for submitting recipes is Friday, July 15, 2016.

Recipes for the cookbook will be reviewed and selected by a team of Cooper nutritionists, nurses, and staff from the Cooper Heart Institute and will be verified as being heart healthy.

This cookbook will be given to select patients upon discharge, and will be available for purchase by our employees in order to support this ongoing effort.
