Summer Reading Program Showcases Camden Student Success Stories

CLC summer reading institute

Cooper Learning Center Summer Reading Institute participants proudly hold up their certificates of achievement.

On Thursday, July 28, 2016, students participating in the Cooper Learning Center Summer Reading Institute shared their reading skills with guests, sponsors, and representatives from Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper at an Open House event.

Now in its 11th year, the six-week program Summer Reading Institute helps grade-school children stay academically connected through a fun and friendly summer camp-like program. Fifty children participated in this year’s program held for the first time at the KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy. As part of the camp, the children also worked on a Camden-themed art project in conjunction with local artist William Butler.

The program is made possible thanks to the generous and ongoing support from local businesswoman Anne E. Koons, of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach Realtors, Cherry Hill office; the Cooper Women’s Board; and The Cooper Foundation.
