Topic: Essentials of Addiction Medicine
Join our presenter, Dr. Bobrin, as he discusses the basics of addictions, including a brief intro to the neuroscience of addiction.

Dr. Bobrin will take you on a brief tour of drugs of addiction, intoxication states of these drugs, and their withdrawal states. You will look at treatment of withdrawal of alcohol, benzodiazepines, and opiates. You will also look at the treatment of pain and how to avoid addiction with opiates.

Topic: Bariatric Evaluation
Dina Goldstein Silverman, PhD, will present her program on Bariatric Pre-surgical Evaluations and Psychological Treatment of the Bariatric Patient. This program will address the process of assessing the psychological, socio-environmental, and diagnostic factors affecting post-operative outcomes; and the psychotherapy techniques and strategies that can yield improved post-operative outcomes, long-term lifestyle changes, and treatment adherence in the bariatric population.

The learner objectives for these activities are to improve diagnostic skills, increase knowledge of all psychiatric disorders, and discuss recent advances in all areas of psychiatry, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and evaluative techniques.

The intended audience for these activities includes psychiatrists and psychologists. Other health care professionals including physicians from other disciplines, residents, medical students, nurses, therapists, and social workers may also participate.

The Cooper Health System is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Cooper Health System designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM per session. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Successful completion of one hour of a continuing medical education (CME) course recognized by the American Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association, or the American Podiatric Medical Association is equal to one hour of continuing education for New Jersey nursing license renewal (New Jersey Board of Nursing 13:37-5.3).
