In Their Own Words: Participation in the Pulse Survey Matters

We spoke with Keyandria Jenkins, who is part of the team at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, and Janice Delgiorno, Lead NP in Trauma and Acute Care Surgery, about the results of last year’s engagement survey for employees and providers.

Last year, the Employee Engagement Survey helped Cooper department leaders identify opportunities to improve in areas such as team communication and collaboration, operation processes, weekend workflow, and more. As a result of last year’s survey, Advanced Practice Providers saw the development of an APP Engagement Committee, Provider of the Quarter recognition, the inclusion of APPs in this year’s provider survey, and more. Providers have shared additional successes throughout Cooper:

  • Monthly meetings between physician and nursing leadership to discuss operational issues and work collaboratively to help solve process issues.
  • Developing an internal ED flex plan with nursing leadership to assist with ED throughput.
  • Adjusting physician hours on weekends to help mirror volume curves for patient arrivals.
  • Piloting a radiologist in the ED to provide real-time ED reads to assist with patient care.
  • Increased education throughout Cooper on the important roles APPs have in caring for patients throughout the health system.

The survey is open now through November 10, 2017, for all employees and providers who were hired before August 7, 2017. It is completely confidential and will only take a few minutes of your time. At the close of the survey, all Cooper providers who participate will be entered in a raffle to win an Apple Watch.

You will receive an email with your survey from surveys@advisory.com. Providers can access the survey on any computer or mobile device with internet access. Any issues with accessing the survey should be directed to https://advisorysurveys.com/help.
