Dr. Steven M. Brunwasser’s research is focused on the development and evaluation of integrated mental health services to treat and prevent perinatal mood and anxiety disorders within prenatal care settings. His research program has three specific objectives:
Aim 1: To elucidate mechanisms underlying the association between maternal prenatal stress and childhood health outcomes (what to target).
Aim 2: To improve the identification of high-risk pregnancies in prenatal care settings (whom to target).
Aim 3:
To implement and evaluate integrated mental health preventive interventions targeting high-risk pregnancies (how to target).

This program is based in a Learning Healthcare Model, where clinical research and practice are intertwined, providing both clinical and research opportunities for trainees.
