Medical Laboratory Professionals Week

Medical Laboratory Professionals Week is an annual celebration of the medical laboratory professionals and pathologists who play a vital role in every aspect of health care. This year, lab week will be observed April 22-28, 2018. Because lab professionals often work behind the scenes, few people know that the critical testing they perform every day saves lives, reduces morbidity, and helps control the cost of care.

The Cooper Department of Pathology and Laboratory Services team is comprised of 19 MD pathologists, a PhD cytogeneticist, and 179 full time, part time, and per-diem staff serving as technologists, technicians, supervisors, phlebotomists, pathology assistants, transcriptionists,  administrative coordinators, and laboratory assistants. Together, laboratory team members play a vital role in patient care by providing timely and accurate test results. Their commitment to high standards of quality benefits patients as well as their colleagues on the patient care team. Lab Week is a time to honor these members of our laboratory staff who contribute to the performance and interpretation of more than 3 million laboratory tests every year!
