(CAMDEN, NEW JERSEY) Cooper University Hospital has appointed Jeffrey P. Carpenter, M.D., as Vice President for Perioperative Services.
“Dr. Carpenter has superior clinical, academic and administrative skills,” says John P. Sheridan, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer. “I am confident that he will provide effective leadership that will contribute to the achievement of the overall strategic mission, productivity standards and expense management.”
Dr. Carpenter, who also serves as Chief of the Department of Surgery at Cooper, will be responsible for the strategic leadership and management of all operating room and perioperative related departments at Cooper. This includes all operating rooms in the hospital, Cooper’s Surgery Center in Voorhees, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and the Pre-Admissions Unit.
Dr. Carpenter joined Cooper in September 2008 after 23 years at the University of Pennsylvania Health System where he was Professor of Surgery.
A board certified vascular surgeon, Dr. Carpenter’s clinical specialties include conventional and endovascular abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysm surgery, carotid artery procedures (surgery and angioplasty with stenting) and bypass surgery. He has been active in the development of minimally invasive endovascular techniques for vascular surgery, and has authored over 200 scientific publications in his area of expertise. He has been honored by America’s Top Doctors, Best Doctors in America, America’s Top Surgeons, Philadelphia Magazine’s “Top Doctor” award and numerous other clinical and professional awards. He is a graduate of Yale University School of Medicine.
