Cooper Bone & Joint Institute Partners With Lacrosse Evolution

CAMDEN, NJ—The Cooper Bone & Joint Institute at Cooper University Hospital is pleased to announce a new partnership with Lacrosse Evolution, the leader in lacrosse education and training in the Delaware Valley.

Lawrence S. Miller, MD, Director of the Cooper Bone & Joint Institute and Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Cooper, as well as team physician for the Philadelphia Wings, has over 25 years of experience working with both indoor and outdoor lacrosse athletes. Through this joint venture with Lacrosse Evolution, he will be educating student-athletes and coaches on how to prevent commonly sustained lacrosse related injuries.

“I really feel that the staff at Lacrosse Evolution goes about teaching the game of lacrosse the right way. They are always in the community teaching free clinics to children, sponsoring big lacrosse tournaments and doing whatever it takes to grow the sport of lacrosse from the grassroots level,” said Dr. Miller. “The Cooper Bone & Joint Institute decided to partner with Lacrosse Evolution because we also wanted to get involved in the lacrosse community to help educate athletes and their parents on how to prevent and treat lacrosse related injuries.”

Lacrosse Evolution was founded in 2005 by Tom Slate, professional lacrosse player and former Philadelphia Wings player and coach. Through this initiative, the concept of “The Complete Lacrosse Athlete” was developed. It reflects Lacrosse Evolution’s approach to addressing multiple dimensions of lacrosse participation enabling athletes at all levels to get the very most from their Lacrosse experience. Lacrosse Evolution, based in Downingtown and King of Prussia, Pa. and serving the Tri State area, specializes in year round girls and boys clinics, camps, tournaments, private lessons and training and event management.

“We are very fortunate to have Dr. Miller and his colleagues working with our players,” said Tom Slate. “We are confident our new partnership will have a dramatic impact in the overall wellness of our players and their performance on the field.”

The Cooper Bone & Joint Institute is dedicated to keeping the athletic community healthy and active and is evidenced by the comprehensive nature of our programming. In addition to providing specialized assessment and treatment for sports-related injuries, our clinical team is also actively involved in educating our area’s athletes, coaches and parents about injury prevention and recognition. We believe that educational programming is an integral factor to our success. We provide programs to the community focused on proper strength building, flexibility, conditioning, endurance, and training techniques to minimize the risk of injury occurrence.
