On Wednesday, October 4, 2017, Mike Bortnowski and Lorraine Sweeney from Cooper Community Health participated in Berlin Township’s Fire Prevention Night to raise awareness for first responder cardiovascular health and cancer prevention. Statistics show that 47% of all U.S firefighter deaths occur due to cardiac deaths while 75% of all active first responders are affected by hypertension. Also, many first responders are military veterans. The community health team promoted Cooper’s veteran initiatives by promoting same day primary care services and care navigation to ensure our nation’s heroes are getting the quality healthcare that they deserve. Cooper University Healthcare would like to thank all veterans and first responders for all of the work that they do in protecting our country and defending our nation’s freedom.
