We are pleased to announce that Anthony Mazzarelli, MD, JD, MBE has been appointed Director of Medical Affairs. In this role, Dr. Mazzarelli will work under the direction of Dr. Carolyn Bekes, CMO, to spearhead a number of initiatives within the hospital in concert with other members of management and the medical staff. In addition, under the direction of Mr. George Weinroth, COO/CUP, he will assist the Vice President of CUP Operations to improve operational effectiveness of the physician practices.
Dr. Mazzarelli is a graduate of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, University of Pennsylvania Law School, and the University of Pennsylvania Center for Bioethics. He completed his residency in Cooper’s Emergency Medicine residency program, where he served as chief resident in his last year. In addition to serving as the Medical Director of the Emergency Department, Dr. Mazzarelli has provided invaluable staff support for the development of the Cooper Medical School. He will assume his new role immediately while completing his responsibilities for the medical school. Dr. Mazzarelli will transition his Emergency Medicine Medical Director responsibilities to Michael Kirchhoff, MD.
Dr. Kirchhoff is also a graduate of UMDNJ/RWJMS at Camden and was a resident and chief resident in our second Emergency Medicine residency class. He has been very active in implementing IT initiatives, and transitioning the ED to EPIC, in addition to his interests in patient satisfaction, medical simulation, graduate education and ultrasound.
Please congratulate both Drs. Mazzarelli and Kirchhoff on their new responsibilities and roles.
