Cooper Flags Celebrate Core Values

More than 100 staffers turned out for a festive ceremony to announce the winners of the Core Values and Action Flag Competition, held in Cafeteria B on October 26, 2011.

“This is an amazing display of creativity” said  Cooper President and CEO John P. Sheridan, Jr., referring to all of the 110 flags that were submitted and now hang on the walls around the cafeteria. “These flags contain messages that reflect not only Cooper’s core values, but the dedication of our staff.  I am very impressed,” Mr. Sheridan said.

A total of 968 votes were received in the competition, with the three top-votegetters named as the first-, second-, and third-place winners.

The winning departments and their flags, which can be viewed on the employee portal, are:

1st Place-Pathology Department, Flag #41

 

2nd Place-University Physicians Billing Department, Flag #105

 

 

3rd Place-Emergency Department, Flag #68

 

All winning departments will be treated to a pizza party, Mr. Sheridan said.

Sharon Weinman, Director, Occupational Development and Training, credited Jack Getty, Cooper Learning Network Administration, with coming up with the idea of the employee-created-flags contest. “It really gave employees a way to show how Cooper’s core values relate to them,” Weinman said. “The workmanship, detail and thought that employees put into making these flags knocked our socks off.”

Attending the ceremony to accept their departmental awards were:

First-place, Pathology Department –Kimberly Persick, Administrative Coordinator II; Dianne Marsango Assistant Administrator; Polly Ehrlich, Administrative Coordinator; Jennifer McErlane, Supervisor Cytology; Claire Donofrio, Clinical Lab Tech; Courtney C. Barry, Surpervisor Microbiology; Vicki Murdock, Supervisor Point of Care;Deborah Bortnowski, Med Tech Point of Care Testing; Suzanne M. Miller, Cytology Prep Tech.

Second-place, University Physicians Billing – Jacquelyn Sulmone, Manager, Billing; Stacy Marti, Collections Specialist; Francine Bargeron, Dir. Professional Billing;Victoria Clark, Collections Specialist.

Third-place, Emergency Department – Karen Gruber, RN, Clinical Director; Timothy Kane, RN; Edward Lemmo, Supply Coordinator; Mary Stauss, RN, Clinical Educator; Ryan Sexton, MD, Chief Resident.
