Congratulations to the Cooper Air Two team who recently celebrated their one year anniversary of providing emergency air service for South Jersey residents.
In December 2010, Cooper and Atlantic Health, in Morristown, partnered to create a new air medical service providing emergency care in South Jersey. Air Two, based at the Millville Airport in Cumberland County, provides 24 hours a day/7 days a week medical transport service, weather permitting, and is staffed with a pilot, flight nurse, and flight paramedic.
This medical team has been specifically trained to rapidly stabilize and monitor a patient for safe transport to the appropriate destination. Air Two provides both 911 “on-scene” response, transporting patients to the closest, most appropriate facility and interfacility transports between hospitals of patients needing specialized care.
As the only Level 1 Trauma Center in South Jersey, Cooper understands the importance of having immediate care provided to the most critically injured or ill. The service is reaching an underserved region in need of fast medical transport to the closest facility able to meet the medical needs of the patient. This program also collaborates with and supports the local EMS agencies in the delivery of pre-hospital care.
Under the leadership of Dr. Rick Hong, Medical Director, and Rick Rohrbach, Chief Flight Nurse, the Cooper Air Two flight team has completed 430 flights, 233 of them with flights to Cooper.
We are proud of the service of this critical medical team as part of the comprehensive treatment we offer patients of South Jersey.
