As part of Cooper University Health Care’s ongoing COVID-19 vaccine education initiative, the community is invited to a free COVID-19 Vaccine Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, June 8 at 2:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army’s Kroc Center located in East Camden. NBC 10 South Jersey reporter Cydney Long will serve as moderator for the panel discussion.

Earlier this year, Cooper opened the first-of-its-kind neighborhood Vaccination and Education Center at the Kroc Center, which includes a strong education component to answer questions about the COVID-19 vaccine for city residents.

“Camden was one of the hardest hit communities by COVID-19 and this Town Hall and other events at the Kroc Center are meant to provide information and answer questions and hopefully remove any barriers that might prevent Camden residents from making informed decisions about getting the vaccine,” said Kevin O’Dowd, JD, co-CEO of Cooper.

“Cooper has been a trusted source for health care for City residents for more than 130 years, and community events such as this provides residents with the opportunity to connect with trusted physicians who can answer any questions and allay any concerns they have about receiving the COVID-19 vaccine,” said Anthony J. Mazzarelli, MD, JD, MBE, co-CEO of Cooper.

Presenters at the Town Hall include Cooper physicians Anat Feingold, MD, a pediatric infectious disease specialist, Camille A. Henry, MD, a family practitioner who has an office at the Kroc Center, and John Porter, MD, head of trauma surgery and Cooper’s Level 1 Trauma Center.  All three will provide education about COVID-19 vaccinations, dispel myths, and answer questions from the community.

All attendees ages 12 and up will have the opportunity get a same-day COVID-19 vaccination following the event or sign-up for an appointment.  Parent or legal guardian must accompany minor children. The Kroc Center is located at 1865 Harrison Avenue in Camden. The program is free and a Mister Softee truck will be onsite to provide free ice cream. Space is limited and reservations are recommended. To register, call 856.382.6689.
