On Friday, October 25, 2013, the staff of the newly opened MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper hosted a press tour for a group of national and international editors and journalists as part of a visit organized by Choose NJ, a leading state economic development agency for business attraction and growth.
Choose NJ periodically organizes press tours to showcase the depth, breadth and diversity of the state’s thriving life science sector — from its major pharmaceutical and medical device companies to emerging biotechnology and research facilities. The press tours reinforce the advantages of doing business in New Jersey , from the state’s highly educated workforce to attractive business incentives, and other reasons why some of the world’s leading life science companies, as well as innovative start-ups, have chosen to do business in the state.
The group requested a tour of the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, which began seeing patients on October 14, 2013, because of its significance to the health care community, not only in New Jersey, but for the entire North East region.
MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper is a partnership between Cooper University Health Care and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, the nation’s leading cancer center. “We are excited for what this means for cancer patients in the region – by offering the most advanced protocols and treatments available, right here in our community,” said Generosa Grana, MD, Director, MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, who led the tour.
Among those who toured were representatives from leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical journals and publications.
