Center Named in Honor of the Ripa Family, Long-Time Cooper Supporters
Cooper University Health Care executive leaders and local officials gathered on April 3, 2014, for a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Ripa Center for Women’s Health and Wellness in Voorhees, NJ. The center is named in honor of the Ripa family, longtime Cooper supporters. Camden County Clerk Joe Ripa was in attendance at the event representing the family at the dedication. Read more.
Noted physician and health policy innovator Jeffrey Brenner to receive honorary degree at Rutgers–Camden convocation on May 21, 2014
Jeffrey C. Brenner, MD, a primary care physician at Cooper Health whose efforts to improve the delivery of health care to the nation’s most impoverished citizens earned a MacArthur “Genius Grant” Fellowship in 2013, will receive an Honorary Doctor of Science degree from Rutgers University–Camden during the campus’ Commencement and Honors Convocation ceremony on Wednesday, May 21, 2014.
The selection of Brenner, who also will serve as Rutgers–Camden’s keynote speaker at the campus-wide ceremony, was confirmed by the Rutgers Board of Governors during its regular meeting in New Brunswick on Tuesday, April 1, 2014. Read more.
Cooper Doctors, Med Students to Explore How Emotions Impact Delivery of Care
Despite years of scientific training, emotions often play a role in how physicians make clinical decisions. Facets of Dyslexia Conference: SAVE 20% BEFORE APRIL 1!
On Saturday, May 3, 2014, the Cooper Learning Center at Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper will host the First Annual Dyslexia & Language Related Disabilities Conference: “Facets of Dyslexia.”
The conference, designed to meet the needs of both parents and professionals, will take place at the Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine’s Stratford Campus from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. George McCloskey, PhD, will deliver the keynote address, and the day will be filled with an array of workshops on screenings, 504 and IEP plans, language processing, and more. Governor Christie, Officials Break Ground for KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie joined other officials on March 5, 2014, as ground was broken for the state’s first renaissance school, KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy at Lanning Square, in a ceremony held at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. The new school will be built on the former site of the Lanning Square School at the corner of South Broadway and Washington Street adjacent to the medical school. Read more.
