Cooper Radiology First in South Jersey to Offer New Diagnostic Tool for Prostate Cancer

Cooper University Health Care is the first health system in South Jersey to offer a new diagnostic test to detect recurrent prostate cancer earlier. Axumin is an FDA-approved scan that can achieve early detection of recurrent prostate cancer following surgery or radiation.

One of only two in New Jersey

Cooper University Health Care and Cooper Medical School of Rowan University recently received approval to establish an Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery (ENT) residency program from the ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education). This highly specialized surgical training program is only the second of its kind in New Jersey. ENT residency training is in high demand and typically one of the most competitive residency programs nationally. Read more.

Cooper University Health Care Chairman George E. Norcross, III, issued a statement commending and thanking the leaders of health systems in New Jersey and Pennsylvania for raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour for employees at their institutions.

“I want to thank our colleagues at the health systems that have joined Cooper in raising the minimum wage for their employees to a minimum of $15 an hour,” said Norcross. Read more.

Benson Street Closure Tuesday

On Tuesday, November, 27, 2018, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Benson Street will be closed to all traffic between 7th Street and Broadway due to crane activity for the construction of the co-gen project.

Prior to 7:30 a.m., employees and visitors will have access to the CCIA garage via the Benson Street entrance as well as the entrance at 6th Street and Stevens Street. Read more.

Wage Hike by Largest Employer in Camden City and County Will Benefit 10% of Workforce

Cooper University Health Care Chairman George E. Norcross, III today announced the health system will increase the minimum wage it pays employees to $15 an hour, the first health system in New Jersey to make such a commitment to its full-time, part-time, and per-diem employees. The new minimum wage policy will go into effect on January 1, 2019, and will benefit approximately 10 percent of Cooper’s 7,500 employees, one third of whom are Camden city residents and over 450 of whom are Camden County residents. MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper Approved by Society of Surgical Oncology to Establish a Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program

MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper has received a three-year approval to establish a new Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program by the Society of Surgical Oncology, one of fewer than 50 programs in the nation.

Cooper University Health Care Opens Expanded Emergency Department

Today, Cooper University Health Care opened a new 5,500 square-foot addition to its Emergency Department (ED) featuring 10 state-of-the-art exam rooms that will improve the patient experience and reduce wait times.
