Soon-to-be Doctors “Meet their Match” at Special Event in Camden

At the stroke of noon today, 74 fourth-year medical students from Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) tore open personalized envelopes to learn where they will begin the next phase of their medical education as resident physicians at hospitals around the nation.

The annual Match Day event is a rite of passage for graduating medical students, who will advance to a three- to seven-year residency program, getting hands-on experience in a specific discipline. Read more.

Camden Girl Scouts Visit MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper to Explore Careers in STEM

Through a partnership with The Cooper Foundation, the Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey (GSCSNJ), and Brimm Medical Arts High School in Camden, 20 Camden students visited MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper on Thursday, February 28, 2019, for a behind the scenes look at STEM-related careers.

The Helping Our Heroes program was at Collingswood Fire Department yesterday morning offering preventative screening and educating first responders about cardiovascular health, stroke risk, skin cancer and healthy habits. Reboli, and Virtua President and CEO Dennis W. Pullin for an “Eds and Meds” panel moderated by Camden City School District Acting Superintendent Katrina McCombs. Cooper Hosts NJ Department of Health Statewide HPV Educational Event

Cooper University Health Care was proud to host the New Jersey Department of Health’s Human Papillomavirus (HPV) educational kick-off meeting as part of its Partnering for a Health New Jersey initiative on January 31, 2019. A panel of experts, including physicians from MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, discussed the epidemiology of HPV infections, current immunization coverage rates, and key steps toward prevention. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy Announces New Initiatives, Centers of Excellence in the Fight Against the NJ Opioid Epidemic

On Wednesday, January 23, 2019, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced the commitment of his administration to a patient-centered, evidence-based approach to tackle the opioid epidemic that took the lives of 3,163 New Jerseyans in 2018 alone.

The programs and initiatives described during the event, hosted by Cooper University Health Care, included programs to increase access to evidence-based prevention and treatment in the community, supporting individuals in recovery, improving data-systems and infrastructure systems for addiction services, and stemming the supply of illicit drugs through law enforcement.
