Cooper University Health Care was recognized in two categories at the 2025 New Jersey Social Innovation Awards, held April 10 in Camden.

The Cooper Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Patient, Family, and Caregiver Support Program received top honors in the Advancing Access to Health category. The program was celebrated for its innovative strategies to reduce health disparities and ensure equitable care for vulnerable populations, including older adults and individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, behavioral health conditions, and physical disabilities. Cooper University Hospital has been recognized by the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) as a Center of Excellence in Surgical Safety: Smoke Evacuation.  Cooper earned the prestigious Go Clear™ Award for its efforts in eliminating surgical smoke, a hazardous byproduct of laser and electrosurgical procedures that poses significant health risks to those exposed.

Landmark study aims to optimize emergency stroke care and improve outcomes for thousands of thrombectomy patients nationwide

Cooper University Health Care, in collaboration with the University of Iowa Health Care, has been awarded research funding by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to support a large clinical trial comparing two triage strategies for guiding thrombectomy, a life-saving intervention for patients with large vessel occlusion (LVO) strokes, the most severe and disabling subtype of ischemic stroke. The moment you see the Center for Healing’s new mobile unit, you can tell something about it is different. Yes, it is a roomy trailer with private space where a patient can receive on-demand medical care with no appointment, and yes, there is space for people to make follow up appointments.

Blood Pressure Procedure Calms Overactive Nerves That Can Elevate Blood Pressure

Cooper and Inspira Cardiac Care now offers a new renal denervation (RDN) procedure for certain patients with high blood pressure. Clinicians at Cooper and Inspira Cardiac Care recently performed the first case using this new procedure at Cooper University Hospital in Camden.

The renal denervation (RDN) system, by Symplicity Spyral™, involves a minimally invasive procedure that targets nerves near the kidneys that can become overactive and cause high blood pressure. Read more.

Cooper University Health Care’s Innovation Center recently hosted the second Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) Hackathon, which included a pitch competition, an innovation showcase, and a reception. The showcase featured inventions from Cooper team members and collaborations with Rowan University, with posters and discussions from industry and state leaders.

Following the showcase, 12 teams competed in the SDOH Hackathon and pitched their tech innovations to judges. Read more.

(CAMDEN, NJ) Cooper University Health Care’s Center for Resuscitation Education and Community Engagement recently made its first community donation of an automated external defibrillator (AED), accompanied by training on the system, to the Little Rock Baptist Church in Camden. Supported by The Cooper Foundation, this initiative provided church leaders and members with hands-on cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) education, equipping them with essential lifesaving skills. (MOORESTOWN, NJ) — MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper has expanded its footprint in South Jersey with the opening of a new, state-of-the-art radiation oncology suite at the Cooper University Health Care Moorestown Campus. This marks the fifth MD Anderson at Cooper radiation oncology treatment location in the region, bringing advanced cancer care close to home for more patients.

Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the new suite features a high-precision radiation accelerator that delivers targeted treatment to tumors, including stereotactic radiosurgery for brain tumors, with exceptional accuracy. Read more.
